Mount Rinjani Second Summit Trekking 2 Days 1 Night
Senaru – Senaru Crater Rim – Sangkareang Second Summit (3,126m) – Senaru
Overview
Explore a quieter and more adventurous side of Mount Rinjani on this exciting two-day, one-night trekking journey to Sangkareang Summit, also known as Mount Rinjani's Second Summit, standing at 3,126 meters above sea level.
Starting from Senaru Village in northern Lombok, this remarkable adventure takes you through beautiful tropical rainforest, steep mountain trails, and spectacular volcanic landscapes before reaching the famous Senaru Crater Rim.
Unlike the traditional Rinjani summit route from Sembalun, this trekking experience follows the northern side of the mountain, offering a different perspective of the magnificent Rinjani caldera and its surrounding peaks.
On the first day, you'll hike through the protected rainforest of Mount Rinjani National Park, where towering trees, tropical birds, and diverse mountain vegetation create a peaceful natural atmosphere.
As the trail climbs higher, the forest gradually gives way to more open mountain scenery. Your destination is Senaru Crater Rim at approximately 2,641 meters, where you'll spend the night camping above the spectacular Segara Anak Lake.
From your campsite, enjoy breathtaking views of the turquoise volcanic lake, Mount Barujari, and Mount Rinjani's towering main summit.
The following morning, your adventure continues before sunrise with a challenging ascent to Sangkareang Summit at 3,126 meters.
Reaching the summit rewards you with extraordinary panoramic views across the Rinjani volcanic landscape, Lombok Island, the Gili Islands, and, on clear mornings, Mount Agung in Bali.
After experiencing sunrise from the summit, you'll descend to the campsite for breakfast before continuing through the rainforest toward Senaru Village.
This trekking package is ideal for adventurous travelers who want to experience high-altitude hiking, beautiful mountain camping, and spectacular volcanic scenery without attempting Mount Rinjani's main summit at 3,726 meters.
